Friday Afternoon

 

A-1 Aerodrome® returns to Nashcon! The popular Aerodrome® 1.1 ruleset adapted to WW2 aerial combat. The rules remain easy-to-learn, easy-to-play, but take into account faster speeds and greater weapons lethality of WW2 aircraft; rules will be explained and charts provided. Up to 10 players per round; rounds last about 1 hour, running continuously through the alloted time. Under age 15 only with playing adult. (Note: Playing in this game "qualifies" new Aerodrome players for the Saturday morning Aerodrome® 2.0 - Convoy Attack in the Med game.) 1/144 scale aircraft for 4 to 10 people and hosted by Stan Kubiak

A-3 Stealing the Confederacy’s Breadbasket: The Battle of Cedar Creek: October 19, 1864.  Union General Phillip Sheridan moves to control the Shenandoah Valley and finish off the starvation of the Confederacy.  Can Jubal Early’s surprise attack drive the invading Federals out, and embarrass Lincoln days before the election? A-5 "The Road to Waterloo - a fictional encounter" DBN - De Bellis Napoleonica, 25mm, In this fictionalized encounter, Napoleon's troops butt heads with the conbined arms of Britain, Brunswick and Hanover in a test of the allies will to fight.  Will the untried troops of Hanover and the Duke of Brunswick hold, or will they flee at the mighty sound of the French Pas de Charge?

Wings of War 10 players – Can the allies penetrate German lines and bomb their aerodrome or will tenatious German pilots protect their precious strip? Bust balloons, dodge artillery and drop bombs on air fields. A lovely way to start the convention!

 

 

Friday Evening

 

A-1 Expedition to Antioch, 25mm – All armies provided, DBA – custom campaign game, It seems hardly creditable, but it happened.  Nine hundred years ago what began as an appeal by the Byzantine Emperor Alexis I for mercenaries from Western Europe turned into one of the greatest expeditions of all time.  A varied army of pilgrims and feudal nobles set off across Asia Minor to the great city of Antioch in Syria.  Though dogged by the enemy along the way, the armies march was a resounding success that inspired the whole of Latin Europe for the next three hundred years, and gave solid form to the ideals that later became known as the Crusades.

A-2 Battle of Quatre Bras June, 1815- Napoleon’s Eagles fast play rules set for 6 players. While Napoleon’s main force was fighting the Prussians at Ligny, a subsidiary force under Marshal Ney headed towards the vital crossroads of Quatre Bras, defended by elements of the Anglo-Dutch Army. Can the French capture Quatre Bras before Wellington can arrive with reinforcements? Hosted by Ken Lewis.

 

A-3 Become a WWI Air Ace. Now is the chance of a life time, Join Up Now!! Your Country Needs You Now!!!!  Richard Houston hosts a game with 1/300 scale aircraft for 8 players.

 

A-5 Freedom of the Press  20 MM Ambush Alley, Sergeant, a reporter and her cameraman have taken a wrong turn into a hostile section of town.  The footage from the UAV has the location and shows them pinned down beside their damaged SUV.  You need to take your squad, get to them, then get them out before the bad guys can get their stuff together and grab them.  Time is of the utmost importance.  Move Marine, I want them back five minutes ago! A-6 Archipelago Argument - The Japanese & Americans are having a little failure to communicate regarding ownership of an island chain. So, they each sent a large carrier group to the area to help the negotiations along. Up to 8 admirals are needed to resolve the issues, using the Axis & Allies naval miniatures rules. A-7 The Battle of Camden Aug 16th 1780- General Gates faces off against General Cornwallis outside Camden SC.  Rules are computer moderated Great Captains where all you have to do is push the lead 25mm Figures. 6'X8' Table, 6-10 players. Hosted by Jamie Gentry for 8-10 players.

 

A-8 When Sons of a Silly Person Attack!- 90mm Medieval Skirmish, "Have At You!"  (house rules). A French raiding force is attempting to capture one of the many small castles that dot the English countryside along the coast.  They have built a couple of small siege engines and are gathering their resources, and courage, for the assault.  The English Baron and his retinue have a different idea, though.  They are planning to mount a counter raid to destroy the raiding force.....or at least the engines.  Will the Brits stave off the French incursion and restore peace to the land?  Or will the French be able to return home with fame and, more importantly, fortune?  Join this game of fast paced action using simple, easy to learn skirmish rules.  Lions Rampant or Fleur-de-Lis.  The choice is yours.  Don your helmet, grab your shields and draw your weapons!  It's go time! Hosted by Bryant Williams for up to 8 players

A-1 "Bad day at Black Rock”, 40MM, Brother vs Brother, F&IW variant, The British have decided to build a blockhouse near the village of Black Rock, on the Mohawk river, to help protect the Western approach to Albany.  The French, thirsting to destroy the New York capital are planning a raid to disrupt the venture and punish the Black Rock area.

A-3 Operation Cobra, Micro armor (1/285th), Rules: Look Sarge, No Charts
Approximately 3,000 Allied aircraft have carpet-bombed a narrow strip of front. Was the bombing effective enough to allow the US to break out or did enough of the German defenders survive to thwart the attempt? Children under 14 are welcome, if accompanied by an adult.

A-4 Start The Purple! At 14.00 on the 17 September, 408 guns of XXX Corps opened fire to support the initial attack of Operation Market Garden. The Irish Guards battlegroup advanced "on a front two tanks wide" with infantry from the 231st Brigade keeping pace.  Will the Brits brake through and relieve the airborne troops, or will they fall behind schedule? 20mm Command Decision Test of Battle hosted by James Rogers.

A-5 Battle of Marathon, 490 BC-  Using fast play index cards rules from Juniorgeneral, 25mm, In 490 BC the mighty Persian Empire with an army of over 40,000 soldiers, led by King Darius, entered into Greece to punish the Greeks for supporting the Ionian revolt. Darius found a force of 10,000 Greeks arrayed to defend on the plains of Marathon. Can the Greeks turn back the invaders? Hosted by Ken Lewis for 6 players.

A-6 Battle of Hoth- It’s the Imperial attack against the Rebels on the ice planet of Hoth, AT-AT’s and snowspeeders. Come be part of the spectacle. Approximately 4000 point game. A-7 Battletech, Solarace Games- 25mm, Enjoy a Little competition in the Heavy Class of the Solarace Games. All miniatures will be provided.  Hosted by Brian Gladden for up to 12 players and a Trophy will be awarded

 

B-2 Action on the Ivory Coast- Modern 20mm, “Politics By Another Means”. It’s the UN dealing with warring factions in modern Africa. Who knows what’s happening other than somebody is shooting at somebody else. Up to 10 players hosted by Mike Peccolo.   

B-3 "Operation Battleaxe" June 15-17, 1941 Table space:  2 4 x 6 ft. tables will be required. Number of players:  3 to 6  Rules:  Command Decision III in 20mm (HO) Scale Sessions offered:  Session III (Saturday Morning) preferred, or Session IV (Saturday Afternoon) if Session III is full. 6.) B-5&6 Convoy Attack: World War 2 in the Mediterranean!- 1/144 Scale, Aerodrome® 2.0 or Aerodrome® 1.1 experience helpful but not required (e.g., playing in Friday's Aerodrome® 2.0 game); rules will be taught and charts provided.   Torpedoes in the water! Bombs! Flaming Stukas! Attack or defend a British Malta convoy - merchant ships and escorts - using Aerodrome® 2.0 rules, with Naval Air Combat extensions. Players control torpedo bombers, dive bombers or fighters, fighting to sink the convoy or to defend it with a few gallant Spitfires. Under age 15 only with playing adult. A1- "Under Siege", 40MM French & Indian War Skirmish, Brother vs Brother, F&IW variant,  A group of British and American soldiers are waiting for supplies at makeshift Fort Crownover  However the French and their Indian allies have arrived to take and burn the fort. Can the British hold out for the arrival of reinforcements and supplies?

A-2 Churchill's Nightmare.  The Bismarck is under tow by the Prinz Eugen and has called for help for the Kriegsmarine.  The KM has responded by sending the Admiral Hipper, Scharnhorst, and G (can't spell).  They also put in a call to the French who are still seething about the British attack on their fleet.  Will the French respond?  Who will they help?  Do you really think those questions need to be answered.  Game scale 1/6000.  Game Rules Command At Sea 4th edition.  Number of Players 4 to 8. A-8 The Battle of Culpepper- 25mm ACW Volley & Bayonet: The Road to
Glory. This will be a battle using V&B's new battle generation system.  Lee's
Rebs in their prime will face a larger and much better equipped Yankee
army under Burnside.  The actual scenario is determined at game time by
a draw of cards.  The battle can range anywhere from a fierce frontal
engagement to an all out flank attack.  Neither side will know until the

B-1 Breakout in the Med - It's 1940 and France is about to fall. The Free French forces are attempting to flee to the Mediterranean with a fleet, including the battlecruiser Dunkerque. However, the Italians have other plans . . .

A-2 2nd Naval Battle of Guadalcanal.  The Japanese Navy is determined to shut down Henderson Field and remove the air threat of the Cactus Air Force.  They tried the night before, but were repulsed, losing a Battlecruiser and destroyer in the process, but savaging the American fleet.  No opposition from the Americans is expected.  However, two new units have arrived and have a little surprise for the Tokyo Express - the battleships Washington and South Dakota.  Can the Americans repeat history or will the superior numbers of the Japanese and thier Long Lances rule the night again?  Game scale 1/6000. A-3 Mederet River, Normandy campaign. June 1944. 25mm. Modified Crossfire. 4-6 players. US Airborne troops move to take and hold the La Fiere bridge. Can the Germans keep the 82nd tied up or even better, destroy the Airborne troops completely.  Hosted by Mike Coggins for 4 to 6 players.

 A-7 Dad's Army: WWII Invasion of Great Britain 

 The Germans want to take out  the Royal Air Force by capturing  airbases and plot a  few "test cases" to see  if  it can work. Here they actually give it a go. This is a tactical free for all for perhaps a dozen players. Designed to have you shooting ( or at least being shot at) on the first  turn and running your company without instruction by the third. Sunday Morning

 

A-1 Showing Them Wrong, Shewan , Farah Providence, Afghanistan,  November 2008- Ambush Alley 20mm, An important city astride the supply route in Afghanistan, Shewan had
been a thorn in the side of Marines of 2/7 Joint Task Force.  This day a 10 km patrol with both mounted and dismounted elements approach the city when an hail of RPG and automatic weapons fire open up on the Marines.  The local Taliban had promised the locals that they would
prove the Marines were weak and wouldnt stand to them in a fight.  The Marines showed the locals and the Taliban that they were wrong.  Can you do as good? The Marines will be working under ROE and there will be civilians on the battlefield! Room for 8-12 players on the American side with the Taliban being run by the referees, 12+ players can help the ref’s push the insurgents Hosted by Neel Woodall and Erik Slater.

A-4 The Battle of Tel Maschara, Syria, 11 October 1973- the IDF stops the advance of the advance Iraqi Armor Brigade that intends to slam into the flank of the IDF penetration toward Damascus.  15mm using Desert Whirlwind rules hosted by Jamie Gentry.
